Q: What is IGOOR? A: IGOOR is a free, open-source conversational application, controllable by mouse / touch / eye control, designed for people with conditions that affect communication, including ALS.
Q: Does IGOOR cost money? A: IGOOR is free, open-source software. However, some of its features depend (for now) on third-party providers that offer paid subscriptions. IMPORTANT: IGOOR is not affiliated with ANY of these providers.
Q: What do I need to run IGOOR? A: Today, the only essential item is a key from the provider Groq. The key to test the software is free.
Q: Does IGOOR require eye control to work? A: No, you can use IGOOR with a mouse or by touch.
Q: Where is my data stored? A: Your data is stored on your computer. This includes your conversations, your word and sentence predictions, your documents, etc. However, in order to provide context to the AI that generates your predictions, they must be sent to the AI provider. You can find more information about Groq, our default AI model provider, here: 4 - Preferences - AI
Q: Where is my cloned voice stored? A: To clone your voice, cloud services such as Speechify or Elevenlabs require audio samples that you send to them (for now, outside the IGOOR application). Only people with access to your account at these providers can generate sentences with your cloned voice. The API key used to access your accounts is also stored on your computer so that IGOOR can use it.
